Always here for you

Vets on Crown is one of the closest full-service veterinary clinics to Haymarket. Located at 537 Crown Street in Surry Hills — just east of Central Station — we're an easy walk or short drive from Haymarket, Chinatown, and the Darling Quarter area. Our clinic brings together everything your pet needs in one place: routine health checks, vaccinations, dental care, blood testing, surgery, emergency treatment, X-rays and ultrasounds, dog grooming, doggy daycare, and cat and dog boarding. We're open from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm on weekdays, with weekend and public holiday hours from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Our veterinary team has over 37 years of combined experience and has been caring for pets at this Crown Street location for more than 25 years. Whether you're a Haymarket resident, a worker in the area with a pet at home nearby, or a student looking for a reliable local vet, we take the time to listen, explain your options, and make sure your pet is comfortable from arrival to discharge.

Why Vets On Crown?

  • A Short Walk from Haymarket and Central Station

We're roughly 1.5 kilometres from Haymarket — about 15 minutes on foot via Elizabeth Street or Devonshire Street, and under 5 minutes by car. You can also catch the light rail to the Surry Hills stop and walk a few minutes from there.

  • Every Service Under One Roof

No need to juggle separate vets, groomers, and boarding facilities across the inner city. We handle consultations, surgery, dental care, X-rays, grooming, daycare, and cat and dog boarding — all at 537 Crown Street. One team, one location.

  • Extended Hours for Busy Inner-City Schedules

Haymarket is home to students, hospitality workers, and CBD commuters — many with non-standard hours. We're open 7:30 am to 8:00 pm weekdays and 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekends, so your pet's care doesn't have to wait for a day off.

These guys took such great care of my kitty when we came in at short notice and our girl needed emergency dental work. Vets on crown will be our go to vet from now on!

If you own a pet and live in the city, this is the best vet to go to. They have helped me and my dog for years now. They also have an in-house groomer. Hands down the best vet this side of the bridge.

I brought Otis to Vet on Crown today as a first-time visit due to my local vet being booked out. Otis is a mini dachshund 3 years old. Otis had stopped eating and had been vomiting at 4am this morning. Dr Nima was extremely thorough with his examination and put my mind at ease considering that I had just lost Arlo, a companion dog to Otis, 4 days earlier in a hit and run car accident. In the circumstances I was paranoid about the health of the remaining dog Otis. Dr Nima gave some comforting viewpoints on Arlo's death which I have been significantly affected by and assisted by running blood tests and an IV drip for hydration and tablets to increase Otis' appetite. It was much more practical advice than I received from the previous vet who indicated that Otis was not eating from the stress from losing his companion dog Arlo (which added to an already traumatic event) and didn't run any tests. Dr Nima also diagnosed a heart mumur and back leg issue for Otis which I was not previously aware of which were important to me to know considering Otis' long-term health. The price was about what half I pay at my local vet. Otis is doing much better and eating now we are home.

Cannot recommend this place highly enough, Nima and his team are amazing, it has daycare for our little puppy, they even have the best groomer in Sydney plus puppy school. Everything you need is under the one roof!

Frequently asked questions

How do I get to Vets on Crown from Haymarket?
The easiest walking route is along Elizabeth Street heading south, then turning left onto Devonshire Street or Foveaux Street into Surry Hills — it takes about 15 minutes on foot. By car, head east along Campbell Street or Cleveland Street and turn onto Crown Street. You can also take the light rail to the Surry Hills stop on Devonshire Street, which puts you a few minutes' walk from the clinic.
Is there parking near the clinic if I'm driving from Haymarket?
Yes, there is metered street parking along Crown Street and surrounding side streets in Surry Hills. On weekday evenings and weekends, parking tends to be easier to find. Given the short distance from Haymarket, some pet owners also walk or use a rideshare for convenience.
I'm a student living in Haymarket — do you offer any payment flexibility?
We understand that vet costs can be a concern, particularly for students. If the recommended treatment stretches your budget, please talk to us — we offer flexible payment options and can discuss alternative treatment plans to make sure your pet still receives the care they need.
Can I use your daycare or boarding if I live in Haymarket?
Absolutely. We have Haymarket pet owners who use our doggy daycare regularly, dropping off on their way to work or uni and picking up on the way home. Our cat and dog boarding is also popular with inner-city residents who need overnight or extended care while they travel. We're open from 7:30 am on weekdays, so early drop-offs fit easily into a morning routine.
