A blue merle border collie dog sitting on the floor of the clinic and awaiting consultation in Surry Hills NSW

Always here for you

rown Street runs directly from Darlinghurst into Surry Hills, and our clinic at number 537 sits just a few blocks south of Oxford Street — most Darlo pet owners can walk here in under 10 minutes. We offer the full range of veterinary care, from wellness exams and vaccinations to surgery, emergency treatment, and diagnostic imaging, alongside dog grooming, daycare, and boarding for both cats and dogs. With over 37 years of combined experience and more than 25 years at this location, our team understands the realities of inner-city pet ownership — apartment cats, reactive dogs, tight schedules — and we're set up to handle all of it.

Why Vets On Crown?

  • You're Already on the Right Street

Crown Street is one of Darlinghurst's main roads, and our clinic sits on the same street — no detours, no unfamiliar address. That proximity matters when you're carrying a cat carrier, managing a dog on-lead, or dealing with an emergency where minutes count.

  • Built for Apartment Pet Owners

Most Darlo residents live in apartments or terraces. We have separate areas to keep cats calm, dedicated cat boarding suites, and vets experienced with the health issues common in indoor pets — weight management, dental disease, skin conditions, and behavioural concerns. For dogs, our daycare provides the exercise and socialisation a small apartment can't.

  • A Team That Knows Your Pet

We're family-run, not a corporate chain. Our team builds ongoing relationships with pets and their owners, so you're not starting from scratch at every visit. With over 320 Google reviews and more than two decades at the same address, we're part of this neighbourhood.

Years of experience, hundreds of Satisfied Customers

Took my puppy after he had been having gastro issues on and off. Previous vet treated him with antibiotics but did not run a secondary test afterwards to see if it had cleared as they thought it wouldn’t be necessary. Well, he got sick again and that’s when I took him to Vets on Crown who did fecal test which came back with not only the same bug he had before but another 2! After 17 days on antibiotics followed by repeat tests it is now cleared

Just over a month ago, I brought my twelve year old tall whippet, Divo, to Vets on Crown for dentistry work. The receptionist/nurse explained all the procedure options to me in depth. (So much depended on Divo’s dental examination, as certain teeth problems can only be found when a dog is anaesthetised on the table.) The nurse had the medical understanding of a veterinarian, or so it seemed to me from her detailed explanations. She was also very kind and had a winning way with my precious dog, Divo. At every point I felt considered, well informed, listened to, and able to make choices about the dental work needed with new understanding. The veterinarian himself, was brilliant. He did major work and removed several afflicted teeth and based his work on prior blood tests and mouth exploration, using very modern surgery facilities. He was also polite, kind and had an obvious love of animals and a keen dedication to their care. I found the cost quite reasonable and Divo was sent home with appropriate antibiotics and pain meds. I was encouraged to ring or come in anytime, should any problem occur post op. Dr Nima also saw Divo and checked on his progress after a few days, just to make sure of trouble free, post operation healing. I can gladly recommend Vets on Crown to anyone who loves their pet. This is the best vet hospital that I’ve found, and I’ve been to many. In fact, I cannot think of anything that could have been done better during my dog’s procedure. My Divo will now always have Vets on Crown as his medical centre. *. *. *. *. * After many good healthy years, my almost 16 year old tall whippet, Divo, was put to sleep by Dr Cheryl at ‘Vets on Crown’ on Friday morning 24/9/21. Divo suffered a sudden, systemic collapse and I had no option but to carry him to the clinic to seek help about ending his distress. I’d like to emphasize that veterinarian Dr Cheryl made time for me to see her in clinic, swiftly after my initial phone call. She agreed that my beloved whippet needed a merciful and assisted end to life. She treated both Divo and myself with compassion and understanding, and gave me the considerable time that I needed to say goodbye to my wonderful friend in the privacy of a consultation room. Meanwhile Dr Cheryl, at my request, organized all paperwork to take care of both the injection and the processing of Divo’s lifeless body thereafter. This enabled me to have further time with my beloved Divo right after he died. (I was so glad that he was made comfortable and his death was quick and painless.) Early completion of paperwork also ensured that I could leave the clinic swiftly afterwards and withdraw to grieve in the privacy of my own home. At all stages Dr Cheryl and the clinic staff were accommodating, caring and they genuinely felt for me amid my obvious distress. Thankfully, Dr Cheryl saw me through the whole process personally and her words of comforting wisdom were perfectly attuned to helping me through the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Her palpable empathy and her sheer compassion for an aged dog in crisis, informs me that Dr Cheryl is the best of human beings and Vets on Crown is the very best veterinary clinic possible. Simply outstanding.

Had an amazing experience here when our family dog had to go in for surgery - had taken her in for boarding a few times and always really happy with the service but the level of care during the surgery was exceptional. Dr Nima really put our minds at ease and took care to explain everything clearly. Cindy is recovering well, thank you!

Rebecca and my previous vet at this clinic have been spot on with their advice, care and treatment. I feel very lucky to have found these wonderful, experienced vets after moving to Sydney from the Illawarra. There amazing hours of operation, genuine compassion, advice and practical yet affordable prices make them a top veterinarian service provider.

I took my cat, Pepper there last week and they were amazing. They organised a specialist to ultrsound on my cat and we found out that Pepper has inflammed bowel. The medication they dispensed is helping my cat to become himself again. Highly recommend this vet clinic.

Frequently asked questions

Does my indoor cat in Darlinghurst still need regular vet visits?
Yes. Indoor cats still need annual wellness checks, vaccinations, dental assessments, and parasite prevention. They're also more prone to weight gain and urinary issues, so regular monitoring helps catch problems early.

Walk straight down Crown Street — we're at number 537, just south of Oxford Street. From most parts of Darlinghurst, that's 5 to 10 minutes on foot.

Our team uses low-stress handling techniques and can schedule appointments at quieter times. For particularly nervous dogs, we're happy to discuss an approach before the visit.
