The Vets on Crown Team, located 1.5km away from Haymarket.

Haymarket, Let us be your second opinion.

If your current vet rushed the last appointment, couldn't find what was wrong, or told you the price only after the work was done — you don't have to stay there. Vets on Crown is 1.5km from Haymarket, about 15 minutes on foot via Elizabeth Street. There's been a vet clinic at 537 Crown St for more than 25 years. Dr Nima founded Vets on Crown here in 2017 and still sees patients every day the clinic is open.

Why Haymarket residents prefer Vets on Crown

Finds what others miss:

One dog was unwell for nearly a year. Previous vets couldn't find it. Dr Nima diagnosed a rare condition — megaesophagus — and started treatment that week. The dog's still on treatment and still pulls toward the door every visit. This is the kind of outcome that brings pet owners from Haymarket past closer clinics to Surry Hills.

Prices published before you book

Consults from A$98. Puppy vaccinations from A$119. Dental with full X-rays from A$670. The price is on our website before you walk in, and you'll get a written estimate before any procedure begins. If costs change mid-treatment, you'll be called first.

Close to the heart of Sydney and it's community

For Haymarket families whose parents or grandparents prefer to be part of the vet visit. The clinic is 15 minutes' walk from Haymarket, and the team understands the importance of family involvement in pet care decisions. Bring whoever needs to be there.

Open till 8pm on weekdays

If you work in the CBD, finish at 6, and your dog needs to be seen that day — the clinic's still open.

We had an emergency with our dog on a Sunday afternoon and this was one of the few places open. The staff were very professional and friendly and they gave Paddy the best attention and they even stayed until passed the closing time. Thanks Vets on Crown!

My pup had been ill for over a year and the previous vets at St Peters could not work out what it was. However moving to Vets on Crown, the immediate attention the staff and the vet gave to my little one was amazing and in a few weeks were able to find a diagnosis which could have left him in a critical condition as he already had AP. He was diagnosed with ME, a rare condition and Dr Nima has been super attentive and great with giving us the right medication and advice. Really glad we came here and would highly recommend them :)

We took pup, Simba to Vet on Crown today for his 2nd Vaccine, and it was our first time at the vet with him. We were a bit anxious, but Dr. Nima was awesome! He was super warm and friendly, which really helped calm our nerves. As newbie pawrents, he walked us through everything we needed to know and patiently answered all our questions. We really felt like Simba was in good hands with Dr. Nima. He's a great vet who clearly cares about his furry patients. Thanks a bunch, Dr. Nima, for taking care of our little guy and making us feel so comfortable. Highly recommend Vet on Crown if you're looking for a caring place for your pets!

Vets on the Crown staff are extremely helpful and professionals. Dr Nima is goddess and most knowledgeable Vet whom just wont waste time but quick to know and identify the source and solution to any issues your pet may have. therefore you just know your loved fury friend is in a good hand with Dr Nima and his team.... I would travel miles if I have to but I wont be taking my fury friends anywhere else as i know that is one place they be taken care of beyond exceptional high level of standards and love from the team working there .

Just lovely, wonderful caring staff. Thank you for making a heartbreaking situation so calm we are so thankful. For those wondering, there is wheelchair access just on the side of the building. Looks deceiving with the steps but access is all good.

Popular with Haymarket pet owners

Haymarket is apartment country. Many of our Haymarket patients are cats and small dogs who live in high-rises, share the lift with neighbours, and see the outdoors through a window. There's a separate cat zone with calming pheromones through it — so the cat you can barely wrestle into the carrier isn't also the cat who hides for two days afterwards.

For the students around UTS and hospitality workers from Chinatown bringing their first pet to a vet: puppy school runs on-site, and you'll be walked through the vaccination schedule in person rather than handed a printout.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get to Vets on Crown from Haymarket?

1.5km north via Elizabeth Street. About 15 minutes on foot, 4 minutes by car, or the light rail to Surry Hills stop then a 4-minute walk.

Can family members who speak Cantonese or Mandarin come to appointments?

Yes — bring whoever needs to be part of the conversation. The team understands the value of having family involved in care decisions.

Do you accept walk-in emergencies from Haymarket?

Yes, during business hours (Mon–Fri 7:30am–8pm, Sat/Sun 10am–4pm). Call (02) 9133 1300 first if you can, so we can triage before you arrive.

Is it worth coming from Haymarket when there are closer vets?

That's your call. The clients who make the walk usually mention one of three reasons: the same vet every visit, prices shown before they book, or they'd been somewhere that rushed them and were done with that.

Where do I go for after-hours emergencies?

Vets on Crown is not a 24/7 hospital. The closest overnight options from Haymarket are SASH Alexandria (~10 minutes by car) and Sydney University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Camperdown (~15 minutes by car). Save both numbers before you need them.
