Vets on Crown is just a street away from Darlinghurst

If you've taken your pet to three different locums in the past six months, or you've had to re-tell their full medical history every time you walk in — that's not normal, even if it's common. Vets on Crown is 1km south down Crown Street, about 12 minutes on foot from Taylor Square. Dr Nima founded the clinic at 537 Crown St in 2017 and still sees patients every day the clinic is open. Most of our Darlinghurst clients see the same vet from their pet's first puppy visit through to their last.

Why Darlinghurst pet owners switch to us

Finds what others miss:

The difference usually shows up in the first ten minutes of the consultation. A full history, not a rushed one. The physical exam the previous vet skipped. Bloods run because the symptoms warrant them, not because a package includes them. It's not flashier medicine — it's the kind of medicine that catches things early, when there are still options. The Google reviews tell the story better than the clinic can: pets whose ongoing issues were finally named here after months or years of not knowing.

Prices published before you book

Consults from A$98. Puppy vaccinations from A$119. Dental with full X-rays from A$670. The price is on our website before you walk in, and you'll get a written estimate before any procedure begins. If costs change mid-treatment, you'll be called first.

English, Cantonese and Mandarin — with Dr Clarence

Dr Clarence consults in all three. For Haymarket pet owners whose parents or grandparents are more comfortable in Cantonese or Mandarin than English — this isn't a nice-to-have. It's the difference between understanding the diagnosis and nodding through it.

Open till 8pm on weekdays

If you work in the CBD, finish at 6, and your dog needs to be seen that day — the clinic's still open.

The staff at vets on crown are wonderful, we have taken our dog in for boarding over the years and also just recently and they genuinely care about the animals. During our dogs stay they provided us with updates on how our dog is during his stay at boarding and included photos of our dog. The staff take him for walks as well and gave him a complimentary bath during his 2 week stay. We definitely recommend Vets on Crown for pet boarding and their daycare services. Thank you for looking after Taco!

Great Vet, even when they are busy they will take the time to show that they care for the animals that come through the door. Although Penny is often nervous for the vet, she has been getting more confident every time thanks to the care of the professionals here.

I can’t recommend this vet clinic enough! My cat was very sick, and they took amazing care of her for a week, she came back completely healthy. The doctors and staff are so kind and professional. Even though I live over an hour away, I always make the drive because I know my cat is in the best hands here.

I recently used Vets on Crown through looking after a friend’s dog who was a patient there. I was very impressed by, and grateful for, both the compassion and professionalism shown by the vets (Luke, Marnie and Madeleine) and all of the staff in what ultimately was a sad outcome. If I lived closer I would definitely take my own dog there.

The vets are excellent, my dogs have always received excellent treatment from Dr Nima and Dr Michael. The nurses including Lisa, and all staff are very friendly and provide excellent care. Highly recommend their services.

Getting Here from Haymarket

  • Walking: ~15 minutes via Elizabeth Street, then left onto Cleveland Street, right onto Crown Street.
  • Light rail: Surry Hills stop, 4-minute walk from there.
  • Bus: Crown Street runs to and from the CBD — check transportnsw.info for current routes.
  • Driving: ~4 minutes via Elizabeth/Devonshire Street. Metered street parking in the area.

Popular with Haymarket pet owners

Haymarket is apartment country. Many of our Haymarket patients are cats and small dogs who live in high-rises, share the lift with neighbours, and see the outdoors through a window. There's a separate cat zone with calming pheromones through it — so the cat you can barely wrestle into the carrier isn't also the cat who hides for two days afterwards.

For the students around UTS and hospitality workers from Chinatown bringing their first pet to a vet: puppy school runs on-site, and you'll be walked through the vaccination schedule in person rather than handed a printout.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get to Vets on Crown from Haymarket?

1.5km north via Elizabeth Street. About 15 minutes on foot, 4 minutes by car, or the light rail to Surry Hills stop then a 4-minute walk.

Do you consult in Cantonese or Mandarin?

Yes — Dr Clarence consults in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Ask for him when you book.

Do you accept walk-in emergencies from Haymarket?

Yes, during business hours (Mon–Fri 7:30am–8pm, Sat/Sun 10am–4pm). Call (02) 9133 1300 first if you can, so we can triage before you arrive.

Is it worth coming from Haymarket when there are closer vets?

That's your call. The clients who make the walk usually mention one of three reasons: the same vet every visit, prices shown before they book, or they'd been somewhere that rushed them and were done with that.

Where do I go for after-hours emergencies?

Vets on Crown is not a 24/7 hospital. The closest overnight options from Haymarket are SASH Alexandria (~10 minutes by car) and Sydney University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Camperdown (~15 minutes by car). Save both numbers before you need them.

Thank you! We have received your question and will get back asap! 😊
